We’re in the Endgame Now
In May of 2008, I was a young kid finishing-up my sophomore year in high school. This is the same time the Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked-things-off with its groundbreaking superhero film, “Iron Man”. Over the next eleven years, Marvel would give us endless new characters to know and love, tons of enemies, and nothing but fun. Sure, some of the Infinity War Saga had higher and lower points than others, but they all served a purpose. Over the course of a 22-film catalog, Marvel constructed a never-before-seen orchestration of cinema that provided interconnected, but standalone adventures. However, we slowly learned that they were more than just “connected” and they were building towards a gigantic conclusion, “Avengers: Infinity War”. No one could believe what Marvel had the guts to do, but just wait until you see what they have in-store for “Avengers: Endgame”.
As the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Avengers: Endgame” serves as the culmination to an incredible achievement. When we last left our heroes, they were left lost and broken; as Thanos (John Brolin) had fulfilled his destiny. With so many characters turned to dust, Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), War Machine (Don Cheadle), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) were left to pick-up the pieces on Earth, as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) are stuck on Titan. Having received Fury’s distress call, Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) is also on the way to Earth. As they struggle to figure out what to do next, they all desperately just want to turn back time to how it was before and bring everyone back.
I obviously will not (and cannot) go into any details, so rest assured this is a 100% spoiler-free review!
“Avengers: Endgame” is everything I could have hoped for and so much more! What Joe and Anthony Russo have constructed is nothing short of a miracle. The film pulls you in so many different directions and each one has been carefully-constructed to serve a purpose. The acting is miles ahead and hands-down the best of the series, which adds so much more to the story. The amount of fan service in “Avengers: Endgame is INSANE, but in the very best way you could possibly imagine. There are countless jaw-dropping, joyous moments that will thrill all Marvel fans! The film also contains endless humor and fun that will be enjoyed by all of its viewers!
But with the joy and laughter, comes the sadness. The film packs a heavy emotional punch, but you wouldn’t want it any other way. Perhaps the most surprising thing about “Avengers: Endgame” (besides the surprises) is how its 181 minute running time goes-by in the blink of an eye. Three hours zips-by you so fast and it takes you by surprise. There are so many incredible moments throughout the film and I CANNOT URGE YOU STRONGLY ENOUGH TO GO IN KNOWING AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE! Avoid social media and avoid your friends and coworkers until you can experience “Avengers: Endgame” for yourself!
“Avengers: Endgame” is an EPIC culmination of Marvel’s Infinity War Saga; a truly once-in-a-lifetime cinematic event that will never be seen again! The film is an absolute Masterpiece!
