Triple 9 posterTriple 9, directed by John Hillcoat (Lawless, The Road) begins with a team of 5 well-trained individuals executing the perfect bank robbery in Atlanta, or so it seems.  After breaking-in and locating the specific safety deposit box they were after, the crew exits and, after a brief standoff on a bridge, make it back to their own cars where we learn two of them are cops.  Evidently, a branch of the Russian Mob is calling the shots and they want the team to pull-off one more job before leaving them alone.  In-order to be successful, they will need to pull a 9-9-9 Continue reading

“The Finest Hours” follows the incredibly true story about a pair of oil tankers (SS Fort Mercer and SS Pendleton) that broke in half during a violent blizzard off the coast of Cape Cod and the death-defying rescue that came along with it in 1952.  Those on-duty at the Chatham Coast Guard station were preparing for the blizzard by tying-up boats at the dock when a call came over the radio saying a T2 oil tanker had been split in two; resulting in the senior Guardsmen being sent to their rescue.  Our main protagonist Bernie Webber is still at the station when a second call comes over the radio; another T2 oil tanker has been split in half by this deadly storm.  As the most Continue reading

Everyone Comes Here Looking For a Way Out

The 2016 movie year is under-way this week, beginning with The Forest.  The film follows a young woman named Sara Price as she wakes-up in the middle of the night after a bad dream, and sets-off on a plane to Japan.  We then learn that her “special” connection with her sister has been interrupted and it only happens when she is in trouble.  Once she arrives, she visits the classroom of her sister Jess, who is a teacher at an elementary school.  She soon learns that Jess disappeared after taking her students on a field trip to Aokigahara Forest, more commonly known as “The Suicide Forest” Continue reading
