Tarantino brings us a western classic for Christmas in the “Hateful Eight”
John Ruth (Kurt Russell) is a bounty hunter riding on a stage through snowy Wyoming transporting a killer named Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason-Leigh) when they come across a traveler in the road. Maj. Marques Warren (Samuel L Jackson) fellow bounty hunter and acquaintance of Ruth, manages to talk his way on the stage a get a ride to town.
Warren and Ruth have a difference in philosophy; Warren brings all his bounties in dead while Ruth likes to see them hang. A few miles down the road our group is joined by the new town sheriff Chris Mannix (Walter Goggins) and are hit by a blizzard.
The group takes refuge in Minnie Minks cabin, but are surprised she isn’t there. Instead it is being managed by a Mexican named Bob (Demein Bichir). There is also a rebel general Smithers (Bruce Derm) on his way to see his son, a gunslinger Joe Gage (Michael Madsen), a hangman (Tim Roth) and Ruth’s driver OB (James Parks)
After a pot of coffee, the dialogue and action begins to heat up just as we break for intermission. Following the intermission Warren begins to unravel the mystery surrounding these people and Daisy. OB and Ruth are poisoned and die. Warren and Mannix begin to interrogate the strangers with bullets.
There are more twists in the story and surprises, but you have to go see the Hateful Eight to find them out! Tarantino starts out with a 15 minute overture of Ennio Morricone music then turns into a 3 hour who dunnit that will have you cheering! There is even a surprise cameo!
Go see the Hateful Eight this holiday season on the 70mm format and be amazed!
