King Kong Vs. Godzilla (2021)
Millie Bobby Brown- Madison Russell
Alexander Skarsgard – Nathan Lind
Demian Bichir – Walter Simmons
Rebecca Hall – Ilene Andrews
This Battle has been brewing for Years!
Godzilla and King Kong first squared off on screen back in 1964, but director Adam Wingard is bringing the two combatants back with better special effects, story and none of the cheesy English voice overs. “King Kong vs. Godzilla” unites the cast from “Godzilla King of the Monsters” with some new actors studying Kong on Skull Island following the events of the “King Kong Skull Island” (2017).
Godzilla is now methodically attacking cities that have Apex research facilities located there. Apex CEO Walter Simmons (Bichir) is funding a research team to investigate his “hollow Earth” theory, the idea that the center of the planet is a Jurassic land that created Kong and Godzilla and also holds a high-powered energy source that Godzilla uses for his Laser breath. Madison Russell (Brown) is investigating Apex with fellow sleuths Josh Valentine (Julian Dennison) and wannabe gonzo journalist Bernie Hayes (Brian Tyree Henry) when they find Simmons is growing monsters at Apex and they are being sensed by Godzilla and promoting the attacks.
Ilene Andrews (Hall) and Nathan Lind (Skarsgard) believe that Kong and his descendants are from this hollow Earth and plan to move Kong from Skull Island to Tokyo and lead them down to the Hollow Earth. Andrew’s daughter Jia (Kaylee Hotle) along on the mission has formed a bond with Kong even taught the Titan sign language to communicate with her friend. Ilene warns Nathan that moving Kong will alert Godzilla and will bring the kaiju to attack the king. Kong is woken from his tranquilizer on the deck of an aircraft carrier just before Godzilla attacks. The two titans battle in the ocean which is an advantage to Godzilla and the first round goes to him.
Simmons and his research assistant Ren Serizawa (Shun Oguri) relocate to the Apex Tokyo headquarters where they have constructed a mechanical Godzilla, “Mecha-Godzilla”, controlled by two of the three heads of the Ghidorah that Godzilla killed years prior and Simmons wants to power with the energy source down in Hollow Earth.
Andrews and Lind’s plan works just like they planed and Kong leads the scientists down to the jungles of Hollow Earth and Kong seems like he is instinctively familiar with the land. The titan finds a throne just his size that verified to Ilene that Kong is from this land and the titan finds an axe that is powered by the mysterious energy source. Kong senses Godzilla as he begins his attack on Tokyo and makes his way back to the planet surface for Round 2.
Kong now wielding his axe is too much for Godzilla this round with both titans battling on land. Just before Kong can take the win, Simmons unleashes
Mecha- Godzilla and this turns the tables upside down! Let the Kaiju slobber-knocker begin!!!
Warner Brothers updated version of these classic Japanese cult films are awesome! My favorite still is King Kong Skull Island, but to have the separate films and cast make their way to this title fight is going to be a classic!
I am Karl the Flick Fanatic telling you to take in the fight of 2021 and choose you side! I am team Kong and now counting the days to see where these Titans take us next.
