Emilia Clarke is Spectacular as a young woman charged with the daily care of a paraplegic in the new love story “Me Before You.”

Emilia Clarke has made her career as the “Mother of Dragons” on the hit TV show Game of Thrones and she is starting to get more roles on the big screen as a result. Emilia’s new film is a wonderful love story called “Me Before You” where she is staring with a cavalcade of stars including Sam Claflin (Finnick from Hunger Games), Brendan Coyle (Bates from Downton Abby), Jenna Coleman ( Clara from Dr. Who), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series) and a fellow Thrones cast mate Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones).

Lou Clark (Clarke) is a young girl living and supporting her family by working at a pastry shop in a small town in the shadow of a Traynor Castle. She took the job as a dare from her unemployed father (Coyle) and ended up staying for 6 years. Lou gets sacked due to a lack of business and is on the job hunt with her father again. She gets prodded by her self-absorbed boyfriend (Lewis) to go back to the job service. Lou isn’t qualified to do anything, but enthusiastic and willing to learn any job they have. The center finds her a well paying caregiver job for a disabled man that requires no experience and sets up an interview for her.

Will Traynor (Claflin) is a successful business man, handsome, rich and extreme sports lover. Traynor is struck down by a motorcycle on a rain soaked morning as he make his way to a cab he flaged down. Will is left a paraplegic with little use of his hands and nothing below his chest. Will leaves his position and moves back in with his parents on their massive estate to become a recluse. Will is a very difficult patient battling depression, pain and humbling fact he will never be whole again. Lou may be the perfect thing to help will come out of his moods.

Will meets Lou, a cheery talkative young girl that dresses flamboyantly. He tries to scare her off by being mean and even trying to act like the elephant man. None of the schemes worked because as Lou explained to Will, she needs this job for her family. Lou becomes familiar to her new career and begins to form cracks in Wills hardened exterior. The two begin to watch DVDs together and even go outside, something Will hasn’t done since the accident.

Will’s parents (Janet Mc Teer, Charles Dance) hired Lou for 6 months, not as a test but as a hope they can change Will’s mind on his future. Will gave his folks 6 months before he was to go to Switzerland to end his life. (Switzerland allows the practice of euthanasia) Lou learns this fact and sets out to take will on adventures to change his mind. The two begin taking dates to Mozart concerts, trips to the castle, a hilarious trip to the horse races and finally a trip to a tropical island.

Instead of giving Will a reason to live, they begin to fall in love. Lou can’t handle the thought of losing Will when they get back from their trip to paradise.

This is one of my favorite films of 2016! Yes it is a love story and will be branded a “chick flick”, but it is a wonderful film. The cast is perfect and cinematography embraces this story. I hope this will get Emilia Clarke more big screen roles in the future. I am guessing she will see awards coming this fall from her spectacular performance in “Me Before You”.

Me Before You is the PERFECT date movie this year and you should all go see it this weekend!

RATING : 6/6!
