Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt starring in a 2 ½ hour non-stop adrenaline rush, “Mission Impossible: Fallout”

“Mission Impossible: Fallout” is the third film in the story arc that has Ethan Hunt (Cruise) and his team (Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson) battling the Syndicate. Hunt is delivered one of the classic mission impossible secret messages in a book that explains to Ethan that following the capture of Solomon Lang (Sean Harris), the former leader of the Syndicate, the remaining members are calling themselves “the apostles” and are now lead by a mysterious terrorist called John Lark. Lark and the apostles have set off plagues and have stolen technology to construct nuclear bombs. Hunts mission, if he chose to accept it, find Lark and recover 3 canisters of stolen plutonium before the apostles can set off the nukes.

IMF director Hunley (Alec Baldwin) meets Hunt at a military airstrip to explain they have no clue to the identity of Lark, only that he is meeting an arms dealer named the White Widow (Vanessa Kirby) in Paris. The CIA also shows up and saddles Hunt with agent August Walker (Cavil)to shadow him and guarantee the return of the plutonium. Walker is a blunt instrument killing any apostles he comes across leaving IMF with no leads to the identity of Lark.

Hunt and Walker track Lark to a restroom in the club where he was to meet the White Widow and a urinal shattering fight ensues and just before Lark can kill Hunt, Ilsa appears shooting Lark in the head. Hunt now can’t make an IMF mask and must just impersonate Lark and meet the widow himself. Hunt tells the widow there are people there to kill her and Isla, Walker and Hunt kill a squad of apostles getting the widow to safety. The widow produces 1 of the 3 plutonium cores as a down payment instructing Hunt that he needs to deliver a package to her buyer in exchange for the other 2 cores. This “package” is Solomon Lang, that Hunt and Walker must spring from a prison transfer convoy.

The escape is made and sets off a motorcycle chase through Paris that will leave you gasping for air! Hunt leaves for the meeting to exchange Lang for the cores when the real Lark reveals himself and exposes the Syndicates grand plan to frame Hunt for everything.

“Fallout” is full of chases, they are on foot, motorcycle, car and also in helicopters! This is the best installment of Mission Impossible to date and is full of action that will have you on the edge of your seat! I was very impressed that the filmmakers kept in the scene where cruise was injured (broke his ankle) jumping from one rooftop to another and continued to run with a limp. It gave the scene some realism! I also liked how they tied in Hunts marriage to Julia (Michelle Monaghan) and closed out that relationship.

I am Karl, the Flick Fanatic giving you a mission, if you choose to accept it, GO SEE MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT this weekend!!!!

Rated PG-13 (Violence, Language)

Flickanalysis: 6/6 bombs!!!
