After the timeline-changing events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, many people were worried where the franchise would go from here.  “X-Men: Apocalypse” opens as an ancient being is performing a ritual in Egypt, but his people turn against him; trapping him in the deepest depths of a pyramid for eternity.  Back to the present.  Ten years since the events of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, Professor Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters is in full-effect, with many Continue reading

Rogan and Burns get new neighbors, this time it’s a sorority in Neighbors2: Sorority Rising!

Seth Rogan and Rose Byrne are back in the sequel to the 2014 generational comedy hit “Neighbors” battling college girls in “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising”. Joining the battle are friends Jimmy ( Ike Barinholtz), Paula (Carla Gallo) and previous nemesis Teddy (Zac Efron).

Mac and Kelly Radner (Rogan and Byrne) are happy again, relishing in the victory over the fraternity that moved in next door. They have sold their house and bought a new house in the suburbs with no neighbors in site. The only thing that can wreck their world is if the buyers back out while sale is in escrow for the next 30 days. During a love making session when Kelly vomits in Mac’s face, they learn Kelly is pregnant again!

Shelby (Chloe Grace Moritz), Beth (Kiersey Clemons) and Nora (Beanie Feldstein) are college freshman that are pledging a sorority. They learn that sororities have parties but all the real fun (drugs and drinking) happen at the fraternities. So Shelby decides to find a house and start their own sorority, Kappa Nu!

Shane Black’s latest offering, “The Nice Guys”, follows two head-butting PIs in 1977 Los Angeles having to come together to solve a case.  Holland March, a closet alcoholic, is a private investigator who uses people and follows half-assed cases to take their money.  Jackson Healy beats people up for a living; people pay him to beat and scare people who have been giving them trouble.  The film opens as Misty Mountain (a famous porn star) crashes Continue reading

CAPTAIN AMERICA:CIVIL WAR- Karl “the Flick Fanatic” Sides

Friend vs. Friend, Avenger vs. Avenger as the Marvel Universe divides in the latest film Captain America: Civil War!

As a comic book fan and a film critic, I love that the Marvel Cinematic Universe knows how to cross promote their films and TV shows while introducing characters in cameos prior to their solo films. We met Nick Fury all the way back in Iron Man (2008), Agent Peggy Carter was introduced with Captain America and now we get a look at two new heroes in the new film Captain America: Civil War.

Civil War picks up where Age of Ultron left off with Captain America (Chris Evans) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson)leading the new group of Avengers:  Falcon (Anthony Mackie) & Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) tracking down Crossbones (Frank Grillo) to prevent HYDRA from obtaining a biological weapon. The fight takes place in the streets of South Africa and there are numerous casualties including a group of students from Wakanda as Cap and his crew defeat Crossbones securing the chemical.

The governments of the world are demanding accountability by the Avengers after the battles in New York (Avengers), Washington DC (Captain America Winter Soldier), Sokovia (Avengers Age of Ultron) and now Africa. Secretary of State Ross (William Hurt) tells the Avengers they have to agree to supervision by the United Nations to continue policing the planet.  This is accepted by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and the military minded Rhodey aka War Machine (Don Cheadle), but Cap and Falcon think that they still know what is best for the heroes.
