It is spring time in the Midwest. Flowers are blooming, temperatures are rising and in St. Louis almost everyone is getting ready for baseball with the Cardinals. April in St. Louis for the fan boy and girls means just one thing, Wizard World is here! Wizard World, the convention that brings everything from Movie & TV stars to artists and every retailer selling everything a geek or cos-player would need in one building. This is the fourth annual show in St. Louis and the programming featured some familiar faces and some first time visitors including show headliner David Tennant!

I arrived at the show early Saturday morning and was  surprised to see the new gaming area in front of the show with numerous video game stations where fans could use controllers and try out the new Tekken 7 and Dark Souls III games for free! A few lucky fans even got to play on the main stage against the “Hulk” himself, Lou Ferrigno!

The hallway to the show floor featured some custom motorcycles that Bat Man, Iron Man and Captain America would love. The classic 1960’s Batmobile was on display as well. A new vendor, Wild Bill’s Olde Fashion Soda Pop Co., was there with the best deal of the show! Fans could a tankard (engraved with Wild Bill and Wizard World logos) and get unlimited refills of the tastiest soda I have ever had!

The Show floor encompassed the entire dome with a maze of vendors selling T-shirts, comics, cos-play clothing, action figures and original art work. There was even a large display that will take your picture and morph you into a creature from AVATAR! I like original things and I fell in love with the wood furniture that the guys at Nerditure were selling. Nerditure had a life-size TARDIS that folks could take pictures in as well as a Bat man themed chest that opened up to hold over a thousand comic books! They also made the coolest coat hangers I have ever seen with batarangs that hold your coats!

Wizard World is a geek shoppers paradise, but the show is about the celebrities. St. Louis’ 2016 show featured the new stars of Marvel and Netflix’s shows Daredevil & Luke Cage: Charlie Cox,Elden Henson & Mike Coulter. Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Elizabeth Henstridge that plays scientist Jemma Simmons, Captain Kirk himself William Shatner also were on hand. The highlight was all gear to the St. Louis whovians, as it was the first time David Tennant (the 10th Doctor) and Matt Smith (the 11th Doctor) would appear at a convention together along with fan favorite companion Billie Piper!

The first panel I took in was the DC on TV panel hosted by Rob Levy and the CIA (Celestial Intervention Agency) members. Rob held spirited discussions and a Q&A on TV shows that included Gotham, Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. I headed up to the ballroom next to see  panels for Luke Cage, Daredevil, Wiliam Shatner, Matt Smith and then the headliners David Tennant & Billie Piper!

After 6 hours of Q&A’s all that was left was the adult costume contest where a locally themed costume took home the big prize!

Sunday brought more refills of Wild Bills wonderful soda. Today was the day I was going to meet Rose Tyler from Dr. Who, Billie Piper! After an autograph, photo and a hug from Billie, I raced to see The Agents of SHIELD panel with Elizabeth Henstridge. Henstridge was so cute and hilarious as she took questions from her adoring fans. I closed out my day on the show floor by snapping pictures of well dressed fans in their best cos-play outfits. Sunday is kids day at Wizard World and children get in free with a paid adult admission and they honor them with a kid’s costume contest to close the show.
