Wilson and Farmiga return as Ed and Lorraine Warren to battle a demonic presence across the pond in “The Conjuring 2.”

Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine Warren, sharing with us the case they investigated immediately following the events in Amityville that the press referred to as “England’s Amityville” but we call it “The Conjuring 2.” Ed and Lorraine were asked by the church to hold a séance in the Amityville house where the Lutz family was terrorize. Lorraine saw the murders of the DeFeo family by Ronald DeFeo and then was face to face with a demon dressed as a nun that showed her the death of her husband Ed. The events of Amityville rattle Lorraine, add the press tour with the Warrens constantly having to defend themselves against the accusations of being hoaxes was exhausting to her. Lorraine asked Ed to stop exorcising demonic spirits before it ends up killing them. Ed agreed and then presented Lorraine with a painting that he had done with the same demonic nun on it that Lorraine saw in Amityville. Lorraine again is visited by the being and sees Ed dead again.

Boss, The (2016)

If Melissa McCarthy is “The Boss”, then she needs to Fire her writers!

Melissa McCarthy Stars in “The Boss” a comedy directed by Ben Falcone. McCarthy previously worked with Falcone on his directorial debut, the under-whelming comedy “Tammy.”  The Boss also stars Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Tyler Labine (Reeper) and Kristen Bell.

The Boss tells the tale of orphan Michelle Darnell’s rise from obscurity to monetary superstardom. Darnell was left at an orphanage by her mother for the nuns to raise the poor child. Repeatedly as she grew up Michelle would be adopted and subsequently brought back by the family once they got to know the child and knew what they were in for.

Flash forward to the present, Darnell is an adult and a corporate superstar. She is like the female Donald Trump. She has motivational speaking tours at sold out stadiums that feel like a Rolling Stones concert. Behind the scenes Claire (Bell), Darnell’s assistant keeps her boss’ life together planning her meetings and even whitening her teeth.  Darnell gets a cryptic note from her business rival Renault (Dinklage) who also was her ex-boyfriend. Darnell and Claire head up to the roof only to find Renault on the roof of his adjoining building. The ex lovers quip back and forth until Darnell throws another deal she landed in his face. Michelle made a fortune on a stock tip (insider trading) and stole it out from under Renault.

DC comic’s two icons Square off and Wonder Woman comes out shining in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!

Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) directs the biggest battle in DC comic movie history between Superman (Henry Cavill) and Batman (Ben Affleck). Snyder also brings back the cast that lived through “Man of Steel” (Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Lawrence Fishburne) and a couple that didn’t (Kevin Costner and Michael Shannon). Dawn of Justice also marks the arrival of Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and cameos of future Justice League members the Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

Dawn of Justice begins with a quick origin story of Batman with the execution of Thomas (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Martha Wayne(Lauren Cohen) in front of their son. Bruce, left to be raised by his butler Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons). Bruce would grow to become a billionaire business man and playboy by day and crime fighting vigilante by night.

Bruce was in Metropolis during the attack by General Zod and managed to save a few people as the Wayne Enterprises building collapsed as Superman fought Zod. The lasting image of Wayne holding a child orphaned in the fight, scowling at the sky. Batman would continue his 20 year campaign on crime in Gotham City, but time and the death of his sidekick Robin (you see the uniform in the Bat Cave with the saying “The Jokes on You!”) has changed him. Batman is now branding criminals with the bat logo when he captures them.

The “Bat vigilante” is being notice by Clark Kent, a reporter at the Daily Planet across the bay in Metropolis. Perry White (Fishburne), editor for the Planet tells Clark to stick to sorts because no one cares about Gotham. It is 2 years after Zod and Clark is living with Lois Lane (Adams) and his alter ego is coming under fire by the government and protestors for deaths resulting from his actions. Superman meets with a congressional committee on meta-humans (super heroes), only to have a survivor of the battle with Zod in a wheelchair given to him by Lex Luthor, blow up the capital leaving Superman the sole survivor Continue reading
