The Mexican legend of La Llorona tells of a woman who married the man of her dreams and had two children. She finds her husband in the arms of another woman and goes crazy and gets back at him by drowning his sons. When she realizes what she has done she is overcome with grief and kills herself. Then the spirit of La Llorona weeps as she searches for children to sacrifice.

Michael Chaves brings us another tale from the Conjuring Universe called “The Curse of La Llorona” that has a spirit searching for children to kill in south central Los Angeles.  La Llorona stars Linda Cardellini (Green Book, Freaks and Geeks) as Anna, a widowed mother of two that burns the candle at both ends working as a social worker for the Dept. of Family Services.

Anna lost her husband, a policeman, to the job killed in action. Anna gets a lead from her boss that one of her clients, Patricia Alverez’s (Patricia Velasquez) boys have not been in school for a week. She goes for an in-home visit where she finds a terrified Alverez and searches the apartment for the boys. Anna finds a closet with a pad lock on the outside and some weird drawings on the door. Inside the closet were the boys were being hidden by Patricia so they weren’t taken by La Llorona (Marisol Ramierez).

The Conjuring’s Nun comes to the Big Screen to give audiences their “Final” vows!!!

The Nun is the latest episode in the Conjuring series of films that chronicle the paranormal events researched by Ed and Lorraine Warren. In the Conjuring 2 the portrait of “The Nun” was seen and Lorraine had a vision of the demonic relic. This new film, “The Nun” by director Corin Hardy and writer James Wan explains the history of the sister and how this creature in a habit came to be.

A convent in Romania where two nuns uncover a spirit and act to avoid unleashing a terrible evil on the world. One of the sisters hung herself to avoid becoming possessed by the evil spirit. The hanging body of the nun outside the convent was discovered by a local delivery man who brings groceries to the sisters. Frenchy (Bloquet)cuts down the nun and puts her in the ice house and returns to the village to report it.

 

The Vatican dispatches Father Burke (Bichir), a well-respected member of the clergy and experienced exorcist, along with a young nun who was about to take her final vows. The two arrive in Romania and are taken to the convent by Frenchy and shown the corpse. Frenchy explains to them that the body has moved? Father Burke searches the records of the convent and is question by the mysterious Mother Superior who tell Burke and sister Irene (Farmiga) they can talk to the remaining sisters in the morning and can stay in the convent.

The ConjuringThis Friday, Warner Bros. will be showing THE CONJURING on this Friday the 13th at the Lincoln Theater in Belleville at 10pm and we have passes for you!  Luke Naliborksi, Local Paranormal Author, Speaker and Alton Hauntings Tour Guide will be hosting the screening; which will have a special greeting from Director James Wan, as well as show clips from THE CONJURING 2 (out on June 10th) and the opportunity for 13 lucky attendees to attend and advance screening of the film.  What’s so cool about the Lincoln Theater?  It is allegedly HAUNTED…  Are you brave enough??
